Ok, so this goes against my blog header - it is NOT a post about cards - but I just can't resist sharing a few (sorry, I mean many) photos of my new garden. See, our previous two houses had courtyards the size of a button, so having space that is all MINE (sorry, ours) is the best thing in the world. Andy and I are both very keen gardeners, and have spent the last 5 months creating the garden of our dreams. And it's nearly there...
So here it is (click to make bigger and spot Peter the Pigeon - named after he came down our chimney a few weeks ago and spent almost a week behind the fireplace without us realising. To be honest, I'm not actually sure this is the same pigeon, but I like to think it is):
And here is our vegetable plot. Andy built this. He's so handy! We have potatoes, carrots, salad, onions, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and loads of varieties of beans and peas.
And I thought I'd share some photos of my favourite flowers.
This poppy is to die for, look at those crinkly petals. Yum.
Love my philadelphus.
Our pyrocantha finally opened today.
Not sure what these are called, but I love them. :)
This is one of my favourite sights.
The best thing is - I can't remember what it is going to be. :) So excited.
Oh, and although I don't have a good photo of what it was like before we started, this photo may give you a clue as to how much work we had to do before we could plant anything. It was taken on January 3rd. And yes, Andy did almost everything, including cutting down several enormous conifers. (Do you see him up the ladder). Looking at this, I am amazed I've had the time to make any cards this year.
And finally, my lovely mum gave me the most beautiful bunch of stocks the other day. Mine (grown from seed) are still babies, but this is what I hope to have soon. :)
Note my colour choices - blue, white and pink... remind you of anything. :)
Have a very happy Friday - back tomorrow with CARDS.
Sorry non-gardeners.

Your garden looks fabulous, you can really see the love, care and dedication that you and Andy have put into your garden, cannot wait to see it in a couple more years once all your plants have nearly fully developed. But for now, is so super sweet, it must be lovely to sit in what you call your own little piece of heaven... :)
Love it, the space looks amazing! I started my first garden this year (and its own mini-blog to go with - http://lettucegrow.blogspot.com/) :) It is soo much work digging up the yard and transforming it to grow fruits and vegetables! However, it is so worth it in the end! Enjoy your space!
Lucy, love your garden and can imagine how much work you and Andy have put in. Love the flowers....I am inspired...now should go n take photo of my garden too....
wow, LOVE your garden! i bet you are so excited to have homegrown veggies. it sure looks like you both put in major hours and effort ... its beautiful! :)
Wow, Lucy, your garden is absolutely gorgeous! It's quite obvious how much you & Andy love gardening and now you get to sit back & enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Oh your garden is absolutely beautiful! What a transformation! How nice that you and your husband like to garden together! I'm married to one of those guys who likes his lawn so I don't have as many flower beds as I'd like to. He did help me put a vegetable garden in this year though. :o)
Lucy, your garden looks so fabulous! To have that many colorful flowers in your garden. I wish my garden looks like that. :)

You must have worked so hard! It looks lovely.

Nice garden Lucy.
Lucy, your garden looks so pretty! Wow! I love seeing all the colorful flowers. Looks like you and Andy had quite a job making it look that gorgeous, but it sure did pay off! Beautiful!
I'm not a gardener but boy i can appreciate the beauty you have here. I was also wondering how you make time for cards, photos, editing, and posting after all the gardening!
The before and after is priceless and simply amazing!
What an absolutely lovely garden, Lucy! So glad you shared the before picture! You can just see all the amazing work you two put into this! What a wonderful view it must be out your windows! And to sit and relax there must be like a dream! What a treat it was visiting you today! So enjoyed it! :)
Your garden looks amazing!!!
Your garden looks so lush and full of promise. Loved seeing these photos, thanks for sharing
It's a wonder you have had time to create cards with the amount of work you have put into your garden. Hopefully you can relax and enjoy it when school breaks. Love peonies too.
WOW, your garden is as stunning as your cards are :)
BEAUTIFUL garden! :)
Lovely garden! Must be wonderful to sit there, after all the work you both did. The peony is just gorgeous!!!
Beautiful flowers. I'll bet your white peony is very fragrant, more so than pinks and reds.
Oh I love peonies too and you'll get years and years of pleasure from them. Looks like you'll both have a wonderful summer enjoying your green space.
Love hearing about your non-crafty life too! Keep the stories coming! After looking at the original/before photo, I can see how much work you both put into this garden, amazing!!! I don't think I could do that! I remember growing up, my dad had a huge garden and it was fun for the kids to pitch in and help. Zucchini and peas were my fave!
beautiful garden, Lucy!!! i am so jealous!! =) LOVE that gorgeous peony!! i enjoy this beautiful post A LOT! thanks for sharing! =) happy gardening!
Fabulous garden Lucy! It's evident that lots of love and hardwork went into it!

Hi Lucy, thanks for sharing the beautiful pics of the wonderful garden that you are creating! it's just going to get better and better. I'm planning a weekend in the garden as there is so much to do out there. I see that you share my love of white flowers. I have tried to have a pink, lilac, blue and white colour scheme in my garden and I have to say it looks lovely... but I didin't mind when some yellow californian poppies self-seeded to join the party! Have fun in the sun this weekend, Jo x
Lucy, Stunning photos. Thanks so much for sharing. You and Andy have done trojan work... where do you find the time???
ADORE your peony... one of my favourite flowers. Obviously you both have green fingers! Happy Gardening and enjoy the summer in your wonderful outdoor space.
I love your garden, Lucy!! So glad to see more of it! I can't believe how it looked before! You worked so hard, but it was worth it! Are the blue ones Delphinum? Ours will need some more days to bloom! It was too cold and rainy all the time...
Oh, my word! What a gorgeous garden!! You and Andy have put so much love into it and it's so worth all the effort! I love the before and after shots and your flowers are breathtaking! I've never even seen some of them before! Thanks for sharing....
have no idea how you do it all but your garden is absolutely lovely.
fantastic to see the transformation...
Oh, Lucy, I almost missed this - (we're away); so glad you made mention in your next post about "garden pictures" - I immediately stopped to see. You and Andy did a WONDERFUL job clearing your land and making this lovely garden! I think he's a keeper! PLEASE continue to give us more as your garden progresses this summer. My dream is to see a "real" English garden, and this will do nicely until I can! Please come visit my blog to see our gardens in the last couple posts.....they are at their best right now, and will get more jungle-like as the summer goes on. Hugs!
I just found your blog! I love what you did with your garden. I moved almost a year ago and we had to start over with yards as well. I have a productive vegetable garden, my garden is not as beautifully landscaped as yours, but I too love the flowers and all the veggies and the brightness they add to the surroundings and my life. Enjoyed visiting your blog!
WOW, way to go, you two! All that work has definitely paid off. And that is the most gorgeous peony captured in your photos. It's petals are just perfect. So happy you can enjoy your garden!
