My lovely sister

I am blessed with a loving sister, who never fails to amaze (offend) me with her honesty. :)
After a long skype call, we turned the conversation to my cardmaking. She occaisonally browses my blog, like the rest of my non-crafty family, and tonight, happened to comment that one of my cards was the ugliest card she'd ever seen.
How's that for honesty.  :)
My husband comes a close second - he ALWAYS says exactly what he thinks.
Still - I guess it's all a matter of taste - how boring would life be if we all liked the same things!
So Emily - this one is for you. What do you think??  And don't feel you have to hold back on account of my feelings ;)  I miss you Emily - I really really do.

Anyone out there blessed with a sister who never holds back :)

Birthday Girl

Happy Monday everyone - I am celebreating as I am on holiday this week. Yay.
Here's a birthday card I made recently, using some cute alphas and gorgeous patterned paper.
Birthday Girl
I always fail miserably at vintage, however hard I try - but this is my effort. :)
Have a fun day.

Big Flower!

Hello.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
I have a huge secret mission that I am working on - lots of work, but such fun too. :)
So I thought I'd pop in and share a card I made a little while ago using my new Tim Holtz flower dies.
Big Flower
I cut the flowers from some My Mind's Eye paper (from the Be Loved range), inked the edges with Wild Honey distress ink, and layered them up.  The background paper is HERE.  I used Powder Layering Paper for the base, and punched the scallop with THIS punch.  Finally, the sentiment is from THIS set and the button is Papertrey ink (I adore it!).
Have a fab day.

Christmas Star

Hi!  I have 2 cards to share today!!!
First, here's a little card I made using gorgeous Penny Black stamps.
On this card, I took only a tiny fragment of a much larger stamp to make a mini card.
Here is the stamp I used - Royal Greeting:
And here is my card!

See, I used JUST the tiny little bird on top of the post box. :)
Be Merry
I coloured the birds using Prismacolors, perched them on a stitched line, and added a sentiment from THIS Penny Black set.  I added a tiny bit of glitter with a Spica pen to finish.
Be Merry - Close-Up
And secondly, I LOVE this Penny Black stamp... So versatile.
It's the same one I used for THIS card.
Poinsettia
Poinsettia - Close-Up
Here, I just stamped onto some Papertrey Ink paper, added a pool of Glossy Accents to the centre and added a pile of beads.  The sentiment is from THIS set.
I'm pretty addicted to kraft at the moment... and distress inks...
Penny Black are sponsoring the current Caardvarks challenge... don't forget to check it out HERE and make a card.  There'll be some awesome prizes!
HOORAY FOR FRIDAYS.
And holidays!  I have a whole WEEK starting NOW!!!

Jingle all the Way

It's time for a new Caardvarks challenge, and we are sponsored by Penny Black. Yay!
I had so much fun creating with some of the FAB hedgehogs from their 'Best Day Ever' set.  Love me my hedgehogs. :)
Jingle all the Way
I added some ribbon from The Ribbon Girl, and a bit of Glossy Accents to make the bells shiny.
Jingle all the Way
So head on over to Caardvarks to check out the challenge.  You have to make a card that's decorated outside AND in. :)
And you could win a TON of Penny Black stamps.
Good luck.

My new Prismacolors...

So when I was in America, I took the plunge and bought some Prismacolors.
WOW.  I LOVE them.
They were 50% off!!!!  I couldn't believe it.  England doesn't DO sales like that!  We don't even do vouchers. :(
And although my lovely friend Kathy said I should buy the big set, I resisted, and got the 78 pencil tin.  (If only I'd listened to her... I want MORE).
So today I had my first real play with them.  Delicious.
Blue Blossoms
I used THIS Hero Arts digikit, printed it straight onto kraft cardstock, coloured in front of X Factor (yay!) and assembled.  Simple.  I added lots of white dots, a la Kathy, using THIS fab white pen.  Love the way it pops.
So thanks Kathy and Jennifer for forcing me to buy my Prismas.  I am DEFINITELY a happy customer. :)
Oh, and Kathy has an amazing giveaway HERE and Jennifer HERE.  Check them out.
Happy Monday.  This is a good week, as it's the build up to my half term holiday on Friday! Yay.

miss you...

My lovely lovely friend just left work on maternity leave. Excited as we all are about the baby, we're missing her already!
I made this card for my department to give to her.  The owls represent each member of my department (I'm the pushy little turquoise one at the front!)
See, we're all really wise :)
Miss You
miss you... - Close-Up
I had so much fun making this card.  I used THIS set of Hero Arts owls, and added THIS tiny one, stamping them onto papers by Papertrey Ink and perching them on some yummy Ribbon Girl twine.  The sentiment was typed and printed onto the kraft cardstock, then I added THESE Thickers. Love 'em.
Hope you have a great weekend.

Trio Challenge: Day 5

It's the fifth and final day of our blog challenge...  :(
And today we are using Penny Black's 'A Christmas Star'.
DSC09804
I stamped the image onto eleven colours of Papertrey Polka dot papers, cut out one petal from each, inked the edges a little and adhered to kraft cardstock with foam adhesive.  The sweet sentiment is from THIS Hero Arts stamp set.  I added a lovely vintage Papertrey button and twine to the centre.
DSC09812
I hope you have enjoyed this week as much as me.  I've had such fun seeing what Jennifer and Kathy have created with the same products, seeing their styles reflected in their beautiful cards.
I do hope they will consider another challenge like this in the future...

It's day 4.
And today we've gone digital.
We're using Hero Arts' 'Flower Faces' digikit, and here is my card:
DSC09803
I printed the image three times onto some digital polka dot paper, cut them out and inked the edges with Scattered Straw distress ink.  The background stamp is THIS one, of of my favourites, stamped in Antique Linen distress ink on Papertrey Ink's Rustic cardstock.  The sentiment is from THIS HA digikit.
Don't forget to check out Jennifer and Kathy's digi masterpieces now...

Trio Challenge: Day 1

I was lucky enough to spend a long weekend with two incredibly talented and lovely girls this summer: Jennifer McGuire and Kathy Racoosin.  While together, we decided we'd have a three way blog challenge:
Take one stamp and 3 styles and see what happens.
Jennifer's style = distress inks.
Kathy's = colouring.
Mine = patterned paper.
So here is my Day 1 card, using Penny Black's 'A Thorney Affair'.
DSC09824
I paired it with THIS cute sentiment, and some fun patterned paper I found buried in my stash!  I stamped the cute hedgehog on kraft cardstock, and inked with distress ink.  The holly was stamped on green polka paper, then inked and covered in Glossy Accents.  Lovely shiny holly leaves. :)

Now make sure you check to see what the incredible Jennifer and Kathy have done with the same stamp.
