Hello, and welcome to my stop on the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Blog Hop. You should have arrived from Nichol Magouirk's awesome blog (wow she's amazing). If not, head to the Simon blog to start at the beginning.
September is a month of mixed feelings for me. The end of the summer is always sad… I love Spring and Summer, and am already missing the long light evenings and pretty flowers… Plus this year, my little Lily starts morning school, so it's an especially nerve wracking time. BUT… there is one thing that is sure to lift me out of my September gloom, and that is STAMPtember. Thank goodness for Heidi and the Simon Says Stamp team!! They make the start of Autumn much happier for me every single year.
For those of you who do not know, STAMPtember is a month long celebration of papercrafting and stamping that includes awesome new products, fun collaborations, giveaways, sales and blog hops. And the new products this STAMPtember are FANTASTIC. I was so happy to see so many awesome dies… perfect for SHAKER CARDS! Yay!!
So I have two shaker cards to share with you today.
First up, a card featuring the Birthday Frame die. I decided to go outside my colour comfort zone with this one… purple!!! To create the shaker frame, I first inked up some patterned paper from American Crafts Southern Wedding pad with Wisteria ink - the paper had this textured look to it, and the result it really pretty. I trimmed this down to the size of the frame, and used the rest for my die cut 'girl'. The frame was cut from some neutral paper from the pad. I stitched some acetate into place behind the window, then added foam adhesive around the edge of the frame. I piled up a load of sequins from my Delphinium Shaker Selection onto the Wisteria paper, then adhered the frame on top. I stamped a couple of branches from the new Oh Happy Day stamp set with Wisteria Ink onto the same neutral paper as the frame, then die cut with the matching dies. I tucked them into the frame, added the 'girl' with more foam tape, then adhered the frame to more Southern Wedding patterned paper.
I think Simon's Wisteria Ink and my Delphinium Shaker Selection are a great match. :)
And my second card today features the fab Large Party Die. Isn't it a fun die? I kept this one super simple. I cut the circle from some cute Echo Park paper, then again from Slate Grey cardstock. I stitched the Slate circle inside the patterned paper circle, then added acetate behind the window. I added my Frosted Cupcake Shaker Selection, though I removed the brown sequins to make sure the word Party really stood out against the pink.
Phew… that stitching took a while. :) I am out of practice with zig zag stitching. :)
I hope you enjoyed seeing what I created with this awesome new release! There will be many more cards to follow made with these products. I love them. :)
---------------------GIVEAWAY--------------------

ReplyDeleteLike the shaker style cards. Lavender is a fav color of mine. Like the wonderful stitching. I'm just learning to sew. Had a 1998 Kenmore sewing machine that was incredibly hard to thread & use. Hubby bought me a Brother sewing machine that is easy to thread, it even threads the eye of the needle for you & is so much easier to use.
